NORTON, VA – Curtis Brummitt, 87, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He retired from Westmoreland Coal Co. and was a member of the UMWA. Curtis loved to coon hunt, fish, trading dogs and horses. He attended the Esserville Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ailene Ison Brummitt.
He is survived by a daughter, Anita Reynolds and her significant other, Gary Richardson of Norton, VA; two sons, Eddie Ray Brummitt and his wife Sherry of Wise, Va., Teddy Brummitt and his wife Deidra of Norton, Va.; grandchildren, Jason Reynolds and his wife and Brandi, Chris Reynolds and his wife Carey, Justin Ray Brummitt and his wife Carrie, Chelsea Sturgill and her husband Zane , Haley Mullins and husband Corey, Justin Hubbard and his wife Cammie; great grandchildren, Bryana and her husband Caden, Jacob, Molly, Elizabeth, Brayden, Madison, Avni, Katherine, Hallie, Rylan, Huxley and Haivon; great great grandchild, Oaklyn Addington; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday, November 25, 2024, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Va.
