WALTON MEADE

Walton Meade, 95, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his children and grandchildren who all loved him dearly, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Walton was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Meade; daughter, Malinda Mays; a grandson, Stephen Gregory Mays; parents, Acie Meade Sr. and Syreptia Meade; and siblings, Acie Jr., Ota, Pauline, Naomi and Rodrick.

Surviving are his children, Robert Meade and wife Kathy, Diane Hall and husband E.R., Zena Meade, Francene Meade, Toni Meade, John Meade and wife Lynn, Joe Meade and wife Erica; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Meade and Everette Meade; five sisters, Ramona Wachman, Leola Curtis, Carolyn Arwood, Susanne McFall and Wanda Meade; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Walton Meade will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Minister E.R. Hall, Jr. and Ruben Hall, III officiating. Burial will follow in the Meade Family Cemetery in Pound, VA. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
