SHIRLEY FAY WELLS

Shirley Fay Wells, 86, passed away peacefully at The Laurel’s retirement home and assisted living facility on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Shirley was a faithful servant to God. She loved the church and loved sharing the warmth of our savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. She was an avid member of Central Free Will Baptist Church of Norton, VA.

She retired from Wise County National Bank with over 24 plus years of service. Once retired from banking she managed the business department at St. Mary's Hospital where she retired after an additional 17 years of service. Shirley spent her lifetime dedicated to caring for others. Her compassion touched countless lives and her legacy of service will be remembered with love and gratitude.

Shirley joins her parents, Ray and Delsie Wells in heaven. She will be deeply missed by many loving family members, her church community, and many friends.

Funeral services for Shirley Wells will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Pastor Gary Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 16, 2025 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MEOC Emergency Fuel Fund for the Elderly, P.O. Box 888, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219.
