PUBLIC NOTICE
     The Town of Wise Planning Commission will conduct two public hearings on January 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers of the Wise Municipal Building at 501 West Main Street, Wise, VA. The purpose of the first public hearing is to provide an opportunity for public comments on a zoning text amendment to change the underlying residential requirements for residential structures in a B-1 Neighborhood Business District from low density residential lot and setback standards to medium density residential lot and setback standards. The purpose of the second public hearing is to provide an opportunity for public comments on rezoning a portion of Hurricane Road (from the Wise County Animal Hospital to the intersection of Lake Street and Hurricane Road) from R-B Medium Density Residential Zone to B-1 Neighborhood Business District. 
   Copies of the resolutions, accompanying staff reports, and maps are on file in the office of the Town Planner, where they may be examined by interested parties during normal business hours. Affected property owners will receive notice by certified mail prior to the public hearings in accordance with the Code of Virginia. Any person may appear and present their views during the scheduled public hearings. All who are interested are encouraged to attend. When the meeting is called to order, and the public hearings are opened, you or your designated representative may offer input on the proposed zoning text amendment and/or rezoning. Final approval will be made by the Town Council after a report and recommendation from the Planning Commission. This will constitute an additional public hearing to be held at a future regular meeting of the Wise Town Council.
