Northern lights come south

The skybound spectacle known as the aurora borealis, or northern lights, is typically visible only from extreme northern locations. But the first geomagnetic storm from the sun to reach earth since 2003 made the lights visible over the weekend across the Midwest and parts of the south. R.J. ROSE PHOTO
