AARON SERGENT

Aaron Kyle Sergent, 45, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Norton Community Hospital. He served on the Norton Rescue Squad for over 22 years serving as an EMT-B from January 1994 until December 2016, and as Captain from 2009 until 2016. Aaron was a lifetime member of the Norton Rescue Squad. Aaron was a member of the Norton Fire Department from 2009 to the present (15 years). Aaron loved Hokie football and the times laughing with family and friends. Aaron recently dedicated his life to Jesus and was attending Zion Family Ministries. He was the son of the late Marty Ray Sergent and his surviving mother, Debra Sue Sergent.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Cameron Blake Sergent of Wise, Va.; a daughter, Madison Shae Sergent of Wise, Va.; his former spouse, Heather Sergent of Wise, Va.; his brothers, Adrian Wayne Sergent and his wife Hollie of Clintwood, Va., Shaun Christopher Sergent and his wife Donna of Norton, Va.; several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Additional brothers include Michael McCurdy, Thomas McCurdy and Daniel Hensley. Special friends include Dennis Brummitt, the Norton Rescue Squad, the Norton Fire Department and his Loram Railroad buddies.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Hager officiating. Graveside committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to travel in procession to the cemetery.
