JAMES LARRY BOLLING
MSgt. James Larry Bolling departed this life peacefully from his earthly home on Sunday February 25, 2024 at the age of 90 surrounded by his loving family to his heavenly home.
Jim was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force with over 21 years of service. Jim had served as Director of the Norton Redevelopment and Housing Authority and as Director of Administration for Norton Head Start. He was also a tax preparer at the H&R Block Norton office until retiring in 2011.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Opal (Hubbard) Bolling; a sister, Monette Church; and brothers, Lester Bolling and Marlin Bolling.
Survivors include his loving wife Janet (Engle) Bolling; his daughter, Sandra Daniels; his sons, Jeff Bolling (Donna) and Thomas Bolling (Diane); grandchildren, J.D. Daniels III, Amanda Brooks (Jim), Tyler Daniels (Elizabeth), Andrea Sturgill (Terry), Allie Baber (Brian) and Brandi Carlton; great-grandchildren, Grayson Daniels, Maggie Brooks, Emily Brooks, Brynlee Sturgill and Parker Sturgill; a brother, Carlos Bolling (Jan); special uncle Roddie Hubbard; best friend, Rita Slemp; his Engle family and his Esserville Church family and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.
Thank you to all his health care providers over the past two years.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday February 29, 2024 in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel; Pastor Jim Smith and Pastor Danny Smith officiated. The family received friends from 12 noon until time of services. Military rites were performed on the parking lot by Whitesburg VFW Post 5829. Interment followed at the Mt. Zion Cemetery- Pound, VA where J.D. Daniels III, Tyler Daniels, Terry Sturgill, Brian Baber, Frankie Maggard and Alfred Engle served as pallbearers.
