REGINA PENNINGTON LEACH

Regina Pennington Leach, 73, known as Jean to childhood friends and family, and Gina to friends and family later in her life, has passed away peacefully at her home in Kingsport, Tennessee on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

She was born near Norton, Virginia to Magoline Dingus Pennington and John Henry Pennington. She had many homes as a small child but lived most of her young life in Pound, Virginia. She graduated from Pound High School in 1968. She met her soon to be husband, Michael Leach in September of 1967, later married him on January 4, 1969 and spent 54 wonderful years with him. They had two sons, David and wife Leslie and Daniel and wife Christy. They have brought great joy to Regina’s life. Her mother, Magoline is still living and at 92 still does most things for herself. Regina has two brothers, Timothy Pennington and wife Teresa and Joseph Pennington and wife Kathi. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Judy Leach Hutchens and Tina Leach, and brother-in-law, Timothy Leach, who are much loved.

Her father, John Henry Pennington, passed away at the age of 92 leaving a wife of 60 years, Martha Pennington and Regina’s half-sister, Susan Pennington. They are many nieces, including Beth and Jessie, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends that were much loved by Regina.

Visitation for Regina Pennington Leach was held from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial followed in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA on Friday, November 24, 2023. Regina now lies beside her beloved grandmother, Nobie Lou Dingus Vanover.
