MARY ESTHER RHUDY

August 03, 2023

The gates of heaven opened up June 27th, 2023, as Mary Esther Rhudy walked into the most beautiful flowers she had ever experienced. Her Heavenly Father greeted her with the biggest hug wrapping His arms around her and healing her from all suffering and pain. He said welcome home daughter, look there is your family, your parents Forrest and Kate Grubb Rhudy, your brothers Bill, Carl, Beryl, Lewis Ray, and your sisters, Katherine, Louise, and Linnie Sue, waiting to show you around heaven. I have a special place for you to work with your musical talent that you have been blessing others with all your life. My choir needs an organ player and singer, and you will fit in just fine!

Esther used her musical talent in various churches she attended in Alabama and Virginia with the Norton First Church of God being her last home church here on earth. She had the honor of filling the position of Grand Organist for the State of Alabama (1999-2000) and the State of Virginia (2012-2013), during the sixty-three years being a dual member in the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved her star sisters and brothers deeply in each chapter she represented.

After retiring from Rockwell International, Huntsville, Alabama where she played a part in the building of the first shuttle "Enterprise", Esther moved to Norton to be near her family. She volunteered at the hospitals in Norton working the front desk and gift shop. She was also inducted into the Order of Kentucky Colonels for her service to others and the community.

A service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, August 12th at 2:00 p.m.. at the Norton First Church of God. She will be interred in the Blue Springs Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, she requested donations of love be sent to the Blue Springs Cemetery Fund, 607 Camp Road, Sugar Grove, VA 24375 or the Norton First Church of God, P.O.Box 857, Norton, VA 24273.
