JAMES OWENS

James Sherman Owens II, age 68, of Bristol, TN, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

He was born on July 16, 1954, to the late Howard Don Owens and Wilma Jean Owens. Along with his parents he is preceded in passing by his sister, Pamelia Gwen Owens.

James was a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School in Wise. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He also enjoyed vintage cars. He is remembered for his outgoing and kind personality. He never met a stranger and loved helping others.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, N. Carlene Owens; child, Jeff Cumbow; granddaughter, Shawna Walker; sister, Deborah Dickson; aunts and uncles, Don and Betty Stewart, Jim Dean, and JB and Thelma Salyer; special friend, Jimmy Gross and wife Shelly; and a host of friends and cousins.

A committal service was held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Temple Hill Memorial Park at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, (P.O. Box 1011, Norton, VA 24273) in memory of James.
