Operating employees were required to visit a certified railroad watch inspector once a month to determine the accuracy of their watches as well as to have them cleaned periodically as prescribed by the company. The inspector’s office pictured here was in Chicago in 1943 and handled watch inspections for the Milwaukee Road, Burlington Route, and Chicago & Alton.
