CECELIA C. MUNSEY

Cecelia C. Munsey, 84, passed away on March 26, 2023, in Peachtree City, GA. Cecelia was born August 25, 1938, in Appalachia, VA. She became an educator in the Wise County Virginia Public School System after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from ETSU and a Master’s Degree from Radford University. She retired as Director of Federal Programs for Wise County Virginia School Systems. She received several awards and recognitions for her dedicated service to federal programs for the education of children in Virginia.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She was preceded in death by her father Wiley Collins, her mother Lillian Collins, and her husband Marvin “Buddy” Barker. She is survived by her daughters Nancy Shoop and Linda Munsey, three grandchildren Michael Shoop, Sara Graham, and Leah Smolin and one great grandson Dylan Graham.

At Cecelia’s request, there will be a small service for immediate family members only. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the American Lung Association.
