HERSKEL DEE STALLARD, SR.

Herskel Dee Stallard, Sr, 84, entered his heavenly home on Monday, February 20, 2023.

He loved the Lord and his family with his whole heart. He was a retired coal miner, retiring from Westmoreland Coal Company in 1993. He loved to raise big gardens, and he enjoyed working on anything mechanical. He loved gospel music and would listen to it for hours most days. He loved to share stories of the past with his family, and we loved to listen to them.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara; his daughter, Debbie; his parents,William (Bill) and Lavina Stallard; an infant brother and two infant sisters.

Surviving are his son, Herskel Stallard, Jr. and wife Joann; 3 daughters, Michelle McPheron and husband David, Sonya Gilliam and Tabitha Absher; son-in-law, Daniel Short; eight grandchildren, Danielle, Derek, Leah, Britton, Andrew, Allison, Devon and Abbigail; ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Scarlett, Sylas, Taylor, Teagan, Talon, Sophie, Macy, Anna and a great-granddaughter to arrive in the spring; his brother, Harold Stallard; his sister, Leota Barker;several nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services for Herskel Stallard Sr. will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with his grandson, Andrew McPheron officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. till time of services at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Sturgill Funeral Home Wise, VA.
