JOANN BROOKSHIRE

On Saturday, September 25th, with her family by her side and as the sun set across the mountains, JoAnn Moore Brookshire of Clyde, N.C., passed into eternal life. J

oAnn was born on March 21, 1943 to the late Joe Jr. and Anne Austin Moore. She was also preceded in death by her sister Patsy Moore.

JoAnn was a graduate of the Dell School of Medicine in Asheville and Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. She was the first medical technologist in Southwest Virginia. She began her career as the supervisor of the blood bank in Norton, Virginia. Upon returning home to Haywood County she retired as an RN at Haywood Regional Medical Center. During her years of service in Haywood County she assisted in the delivery of hundreds of babies. JoAnn enjoyed entertaining and decorating her home for parties and showers, especially at Christmas. She was an avid fan of the Braves, Cowboys, Nascar and her children’s sporting events. Her greatest joy was caring for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, David Brookshire and her children, Joel, Jeff (Pam), Kimberley, Chris (Heather) Brookshire. Grandchildren, Jessica Moore (Wayne), Kaylan Evans (Thomas), Alanna Francis (Will), Tanner (Emily), Taylor and Brayden Brookshire. Great Grandchildren, Delilah, Claire, Grant, Ryker, Christian, Maelynn. Her brother, Tony Moore (Wendy) a very special niece, Faith Faust, her cat, Bootsy, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mission Emergency and Trauma Care and 4th Floor ICU for their compassionate care to JoAnn and family during this unexpected and difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 29, with the Reverend Dr. Bobby Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
