Meeting Sept. 7, Norton City Council recognized members of the 2021 Americorps NCCC Southern Region Team Tide 5, shown here visiting the Woodbooger at Flag Rock. The 11 team members have been conducting several community service projects in the city. Members hail from Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, California, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Ohio, Virginia, Louisiana and New York. They will be in the community until mid-October. Wyllie Hall, the college’s new state-of-the-art nursing facility. Special guests included University of Virginia President James Ryan, former college chancellor Jay Lemons and others.
