National Trails Day celebration June 5 at SWVA Museum

Big Stone Gap — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will celebrate National Trails Day with outdoor treasure hunts, or geocaching on Saturday, June 5, from 1-3 p.m.

To celebrate National Trails Day, bring your GPS unit, or just use your smartphone, or use one of the parks GPS units. Locate a selection of interesting caches at historic sites in town, or locate caches along the greenbelt in beautiful Big Stone Gap. Go to geocache.com or any geocaching app on your smartphone to navigate to find caches near you.

Admission to this event is free. However, if touring the museum regular admission rates will apply: Adults $5, Children 6-12 $3, under 6 is free. If you plan on using a parks GPS system, please register before 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 3.

Due to current state Covid guidelines, social distancing is required between those not in the same household. Masks are required to be worn inside all state owned facilities.
