JOHN KILMER SCOTT

February 18, 2021

In Loving Memory of John Kilmer Scott, 59, of Norton, who passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

“Big John” was remembered by many and worked in the community for over 40 plus years for places like the Pepsi Plant, Presley Trucking, the lumber yard and numerous other places. He was born and raised in the mountains and he only moved away twice and both times the draw of the mountains was too much and always called for him to come home. Home was in Norton and that is where Johnny had to be. Friends and family always came first with Johnny. If he could lend a hand, he was always there for you and never asked for anything. He had a love for fishing and always ready to throw out a line. He had a soft caring and loving soul.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Brownie and Reva Scott of Guest River and John Scott Jr.

Surviving are his partner of 29 years, Kimberly Crawford; brother, Benjamin Scott and wife Shelly; sister, Dorothy (Tina) Mullins; daughters, Cassandra Cuneo, Rebecca Sturgill and husband Andrew and Candace Richardson and husband Dylan; son, Damian Crawford; two step-sons, Brian Crawford and wife Bridgett and Jonathan Crawford; grandchildren, Alex, Destiny, Jess, Allison, Peyton, David, Riley, Jessie, Sophie, Maya and Amara whom he loved to spend time with. He was known as Slappy Pappy and wore that name with pride. He has a niece, Tiffany Slemp, who was very special to his heart. There are many other family members and friends as well who will miss him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise. We will be following State mandated social distancing and occupancy.
