Libraries offering Chromebooks

October 18, 2020

Starting Oct. 20, Chromebooks will be available for checkout at local branches of the Lonesome Pine Regional Library system.

The laptops use Google Chrome as their browser and operating system and are “fast, secure and simple to use,” according to a press release.

Chromebooks can be checked out by people 18 or older with a valid library card and a current government-issued photo ID. The devices are checked out for 14 days and are limited to one per household. The library asks that Chromebooks be returned to the branch where they were checked out and not placed in bookdrops.

Funding comes from federal CARES Act virus emergency money through the Institute of Museum and Library Services and is administered by the Library of Virginia.
