Chancellor recognized as outstanding woman leader

July 16, 2020

Chancellor Donna P. Henry has led the University of Virginia’s College at Wise since January 2013 and is the first woman Chancellor at the College. During her time as Chancellor, she has played a vital role in establishing new initiatives such as the innovate2elevate iPad project, recruitment expansion into the Appalachian Regional Commission, and increasing experiential learning opportunities for students through internships, undergraduate research, and study abroad. She also promotes leadership development within her organization and serves as a mentor and encourager for many women in higher education. Chancellor Henry also recently served as Chair of the Council of Presidents in Virginia where she has helped lead conversations with peer institutions and other state agencies during COVID-19.

Because of her extraordinary leadership, Chancellor Donna P. Henry is recognized as the 2020 Outstanding Woman Leader in Higher Education Award recipient by the Virginia Network of Women in Higher Education. UVA Wise is thankful for your leadership and commitment to our institution. Congratulations, Chancellor Henry!
