ANNA ETHEL BOGGS

Mrs. Anna Ethel Boggs, 94, of Wise, entered peacefully into eternity Friday June 12, 2020 from her residence. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Ethel was of the Christian faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Ethel was the matriarch of the family, she loved taking care of them all. She loved her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids and they all knew about “the wooden spoon”. Ethel loved to travel, loved to drive, cooking, collecting dolls, playing Rook, making ceramics and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed. 

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband William “Curt” Boggs; her mother Poppie Blevins; her daughter Sharon Yvonne Phillips; her sisters Flora DuVall, Edna Whitenberry and Lottie Blevins; and brothers Crawford Blevins and Lloyd Blevins.

Survivors include her sons Gary Hicken and wife Imogene of Summerset, KY and Michael Glenn Hicken of Arlington; son-in-law Sam Phillips of Wise; grandchildren Cindy Rutherford and husband Mike, Melinda Wright and husband Sean, Duane Phillips and wife Kim, Michael Hicken and wife Elizabeth-Donnie Hicken and Jimmy Mayfield; great-grandchildren Genie and John Hamilton, Kayley and Caleb Church, Justin and Jennifer Rutherford, Jacob Rutherford, Julie Rutherford, Samantha Wright, Megan Wright, Katelyn Wright, Dylan Hall, Ethan Hall, Amber and Dan Langston, Kristen Hicken, Emily Hicken, Shonna and Ray Hicks and Levi Mayfield; great-great grandchildren Evan Brickey, Emilee Brickey, Emmitt Church, Cayde Link, Talon Langston, Beckham Clark, Alyssa and Dylan Deason and Chloe Hicks; brothers and sisters in law Vernon and Linda Boggs, Carson and Truby Boggs, Lester Boggs, Laura Stidham and Allie Sturgill; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends and family members.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Randy Carter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dewey Memorial Cemetery in Pound, where grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Monday, June 15 at Baker Funeral Home. There will be a song service at 7:30 p.m.

We will be following state mandated occupancy and distance standards in the funeral home. Masks are to be worn and will not be provided by the family or the funeral home.
