J.W. Construction Company, Inc. is applying to the Mined Land Repurposing Program for a Phase 1 bond reduction on Permit No. 1102236 at the following location: Wise County, 3.0 miles north of Wise on Pole Bridge Road near Route 633 at coordinates N3542738.1216, E10310129.3000 This permit consists of 193.10 acres bonded under Pool Bond. As provided by 4 VAC 25-130-800.40 of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Regulations, the Applicant is requesting that the current total bond amount of $424,700 in the form of letter of credit posted for Phase I will be reduced on Increments 1-4 and 6, by $ 31,400.00.

This bond reduction request is based on the following Phase I (backfilling and regrading completed) reclamation:

1. Types of Reclamation Work Performed - the areas proposed for bond release/ reduction have been backfilled and regraded.

2. Appropriate Date(s) of Reclamation Work Performed - the reclamation work was completed in early 2022.

3. Description of Reclamation Results Achieved - Backfilling and Regrading

4. Description of the Post-Mining Land Use - Unmanaged Forest/Undeveloped Land.

Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by this proposal, or an officer or head of any federal, state or local government agency or authority, may within 30 days of November 21, 2023 submit written comments or objections concerning this bond reduction, and may also request, in writing, that Mined Land Repurposing hold an Informal Conference concerning this application.
