BURNIS T. EDWARDS

Burnis T. Edwards, 81, passed away on Friday, November, 26, 2021 at his home.

He enjoyed spending time watching for deer and turkeys while hoping to see a bear. He was born at home in Dickenson County to Toy and Dorothy Edwards. In his early years, he started work in the coal mines only to be hurt in an accident. After rehabilitation, he went to work as a watch repairman living in the Richmond area for a few years before making his way back home to Dickenson County. He worked for Mullins Jewelers in Pound for a number of years before retirement. He was a simple man who cared for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Burnis was preceded in death by his parents, Toy and Dorothy Edwards and a brother-in-law, Ralph Collins.

He is survived by his sisters, Judy Collins of Wise, VA and Betty Green and husband Roy of Midlothian, VA; nephews; Jeff Collins of Wise, VA, Wayne Green and wife Sonia of Richmond, VA, Michael Green and wife Kristi of Richmond, VA; niece, Jennifer McNew and husband Danny of Wise, VA; great nieces, Kayleigh McNew of Wise, VA, Lia Green and Elena Green of Richmond, VA; great nephews, Hunter McNew and wife Sheena of Wise, VA, Coty Collins and wife Erika Collins of Wise, VA; Peyton Collins of Wise VA and Jacob Green of Richmond, VA; several great-great nieces and nephews; many cousins; special friend, Helen Dowdy of Richmond, VA, Edna Gueye and cousin Janice Fugate and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Burnice Edwards will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, VA with Elder Danny O’Quinn and Jerry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA. Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 2, 2021 in the Edwards Family Cemetery in St. Paul, VA. Family and friends will meet at 12:00 P.M.
