TIMOTHY EUGENE TAYLOR

Timothy (Timmy, Tim) Eugene Taylor, 57, of Norton, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Norton Community Hospital.

Timmy served his country as a Culinary Specialist, aka “COOK”, in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. Timmy eventually medically retired as a Merchant Marine. Timmy also served his community by volunteering with various local, national and international charities, food banks and with the Department of Virginia DAV Auxiliary. One of Timmy’s special contributions that was near and dear to his heart was providing financial support to a young African girl to assist her in obtaining her primary and secondary education and ultimately being able to start a small business in her local village.

Timmy was preceded in death by his mother, Roma Rittenberry Arch; father, Worley Otis Taylor, Sr.; sister, Arliss Lee Greene; brothers, David Allen Taylor, Worley Otis Taylor, Jr. and Earl Richmond Taylor.
Timmy is survived by his siblings; sister, Judy Ann Bravo, Vickie Lynn Stratton and RomaJean Speers and husband William “Bill” Chester Speers; special friend, Ms. Sedonia Sparks and Mr. FaiSal Ahmed; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Timothy Taylor will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24 at the Sturgill Funeral Home chapel Wise. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home at Wise.

There will be no graveside service since the deceased requested cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking everyone to make a donation to the Southwest Virginia Cancer Center 671 Highway 58 East, Norton, VA 24273.
