The Wise Business Association and Fall Fling committee are proud to welcome the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s LOVE artwork, now on display at the Wise County courthouse!

Created as part of a state and local partnership to promote travel and tourism, the artwork is an extension of the 50-year-old “Virginia is for Lovers” brand, one of the most beloved and iconic slogans in the world.

The LOVEwork is one of more than 250 giant LOVE letters, called LOVEworks, in towns and cities across the Commonwealth. The VTC LOVEwork tours the state, visiting festivals and events by request.

“Virginia is for Lovers is about doing the things you love to do on vacation with the people you love most,” said Rita McClenny, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. “The LOVEwork featured at the Wise County Fall Fling captures that idea perfectly and gives you an authentic sense of place as it showcases home, and a celebration of tradition. We are excited that the Fall Fling will help us share the LOVE with travelers, helping them to discover for themselves why Virginia is for Lovers.”

Each LOVE installation is a reflection of the community in which it stands, and the LOVEwork at this year’s Wise Fall Fling is no exception.

“We were thrilled that the LOVEwork of Virginia was available for installation during this year’s Fall Fling!”, says Wise Fall Fling committee member, Opie Craft. “This year’s theme — There’s No Place Like Home — speaks to the love our community feels during our annual mountain fall festival and the LOVEwork on display is a perfect addition to our celebration.”

The Wise Business Association wishes to thank county administrators and the LOVEwork sponsors, the Law Offices of Wolfe, Williams & Reynolds, Jeremy O’Quinn, and Susie Baker, in addition to Aire Serv of Wise County and MountainRose Vineyards.

Visitors to the LOVEwork are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. Be sure to share your photos on social media using #LOVEVA and #WISEFALLFLING. The LOVEwork will be on display at the Wise County courthouse until October 13.

Tourism is an instant revenue generator for Virginia. In 2019, tourism generated $27 billion in revenue, supported 237,000 jobs, and provided $1.8 billion in state and local revenue for the Commonwealth.
