Loyalty Day recognized May 1

Veterans lead the march Saturday through Coeburn to commemorate Loyalty Day, observed every May 1. The day was first recognized nationally in 1921 in response to the communist revolution in Russia. President Eisenhower proclaimed May 1 as Loyalty Day in 1955. JEFF LESTER PHOTO
