LANNY PETE BOLLING

Lanny Pete Bolling, 77, of Pound, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 7, 2021.

 He is survived by his wife Candace, his two children, Matthew (wife Rebecca and granddaughter, Rachael.) and Lanny (husband Jonathan), and many brothers and sisters, Donnie Boilling, Peggy Varner, (husband Gary), Gary Dee Bolling (wife Colma), Jennifer Mullins (husband Fred), Joni

Barnette, Tammy Hayes and Timothy Bolling (wife Gina). He is also survived by his clan of nieces and nephews and their children. And, he leaves behind his lifelong best friend, Craig Fleming.

Pete was born in Flat Gap, Pound, on August 21, 1943, the last child to be born at the home of Belva and Paul Bolling. 

He graduated from Pound High School and attended Clinch Valley College in Wise for a year before he was drafted into the Army and was deployed to Vietnam, where he was a helicopter mechanic and gunner. After his military service, Pete graduated from Clinch Valley College with a degree in business. Pete owned and operated Flat Gap Construction, Bolling Brothers Coal Company and Bolling Excavating LLC. 

Pete was loved by all and will be missed. Memories of will forever bring smiles to faces of those that knew him.

A welcoming of family and friends was held at Baker Funeral Home in Pound on Monday, January 11 from 10am- 11 am. The funeral service and burial will be private, limited to his immediate family.

Pallbearers were Jonathan Whittaker, Josh Hayes, Seth Bolling, John Patrick Stallard, Elijah Haynes, Sean Varner, Tyler Mullins and Mike Glovier. Serving as Honorary pallbearers, Craig Fleming, Edwin Cross (Pigeon), his close and dear friend he met at Mountain Homes, VA and Ralph Holloway (Doc), his Guns-A-Go brother.

We will be following state mandated occupancy and social distancing standards. Mask must be worn at all times and will not be furnished by the family or the funeral home.

Pete found great joy in his pets and peace in the presence of animals. Instead of flowers, he would hope that you’d consider a donation to the Wise County Animal Shelter in his name. He was also passionate about helping his fellow veterans and would be appreciative of donations to the Disabled American Veterans at (www.dav.org).
