Digital Essay Contest — ‘The year of Covid-19, My Thoughts’

COALFIELD PROGRESS HOMESPUN — The Digital Essay Contest this year will be a little different, as will the Wise County Famous Fall Fling.

All our contests will be digital: photography, art, pet, as well as the beauty contest and 5K Race/Walk. All the information will be found on the Wise Fall Fling web site, Fall Fling Facebook, and other venues.

The theme for this year’s essay contest is “The year of Covid-19, My Thoughts”. The Fall Fling Essay Contest is sponsored by CSE Insurance, and coordinated by the Town and Country Garden Club. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: adult, 19 and over; youth, 18 and under. First place winners will receive $75; Second Place winners will receive $50, and Third Place winners will receive $25. Each winner will receive a certificate and a 2020 Fall Fling tee shirt.

Guidelines:

• Please limit number of words to 750.

• All entries must be typed, and emailed to aker.bonnie7@yahoo.com.

• Please make sure that your title page gives your name, address, phone number, age, school (if needed), and the name of a parent(s), if 18 or under. If you are working with a teacher, please include that information also.

• Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct 9 at Big Glades in downtown Wise. We will practice social distancing, and require masks. Thank you for participating in the essay contest in this memorable year. The first place winning entries will be printed in The Coalfield Progress.
