Red River Coal Company, Inc. of P.O. Box 668, Norton, Virginia 24273 is applying to the Virginia Division of Mined Land Reclamation for renewal of CSMO Permit Number 1100787/NPDES Permit Number 0080787 in order to continue the operations at the following location:
The permit area is approximately 8.0 miles southwest on pound off State Route 620 near Fox Gap in Wise County and is located between Fox Gap and the headwaters of Phillips Creek.
The permit area is located on the Flat Gap, VA-KY USGS 7.5- minute quadrangle map.
Drainage and wastewater resulting from the mining operation will be passed through approved sediment control structures and be discharged to Phillips Creek and South Fork Pound River.
The permit boundary and outfall locations are shown on the Renewal map and Surface Water Hydrology Map in Section 21.2 of the renewal application.

Any person whose interests are or may be adversely affected by the Renewal application, or an Officer, or Head of any Federal, State, or local government agency or authority may within 30 days of October 2, 2020 submit written comments or objections to the Division of Mined Land Reclamation concerning the renewal application; and may also request, in writing, that the Division hold an Informal Conference concerning the application. A request for an informal conference shall follow the requirements of 4 VAC 25-130-773.13c of the Virginia Coal Surface Mining Reclamation Regulations.
