The recently announced Coalfield Basketball League announced they were postponing the start of the season. The official statement was placed on the league’s Facebook page just three days ago.

“Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in rural SWVA, the Coalfield Basketball League has postponed the start date of competition. Although disappointing, we are determined to move forward with competition but feel at this time that it is in the best interest of our athletes and respective communities that we emphasize caution. We will monitor the situation and announce a restart date as soon as the situation permits.”

According to the Oakwood Aftershock coach, Brian Moore, some of the teams have opted to move from the CBL to play in Tennessee.

“TNT Sportsplex is hosting a league and many of the teams are now going to play in their league. So for now the Coalfield League is idle and hopes to start again at a later time,” Moore said.
