STEVE ‘SMITTY’ SMITH

Steve “Smitty” Smith, 60, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

He was a former employee of Norton Community Home Health, was a lifetime member of Wise Rescue Squad and was an active member of Wise Fire Department.

Smitty devoted his life to EMS for over 25 plus years and Fire for over 20 plus years.

He was preceded in death by his father, E.C. Smith; mother, Molly Dean Smith Sexton; and step-father, James Sexton.

Surviving are his sister, Cathy Cooke and husband James of Church Hill, TN; special friends, Debbie Gazda and Becky Hubbard Boggs; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Smitty will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise. Graveside committal services and burial will follow in the Smith-Gilliam Cemetery in Wise. Wise Fire Department will serve as Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to Wise Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1161 Wise, VA 24293 or Wise Fire Department, P.O. Box 428 Wise, VA 24293.
