City students get school meals, Easter treat

April 19, 2020

The Norton school system continues to provide meal deliveries on bus routes and as a pick-up option at John I. Burton High School on a daily basis for all children ages 2-18 as the coronavirus emergency continues.
Breakfast and lunch are provided from noon-1:30 pm.

Good Friday brought a special treat as the students also received Easter baskets with the meals and perhaps were able to see the Easter bunny in the city, according to Superintendent Gina Wohlford.

Participating in the special event were teachers, CVS Pharmacy, First Church of God, Freedom of Worship Church, Norton Parks and Recreation, Wells Fargo Bank and the city of Norton.

Wohlford also thanked many volunteers who helped throughout last week to fill baskets and help with the deliveries. She extended special thanks to the cafeteria workers and bus drivers and to school counselors Stephanie Gross and Melissa Cook for organizing the special event.
